Speaking Engagements Info

If you would like to invite me to speak at your conference, then please read the information below.

First of all, I do appreciate every invitation! I really do! Unfortunately, I’m no longer able to accept all the invitations, as otherwise I would be spending most of my time travelling and would not have time for work at all (not to mention my afternoon naps!).

Money

Thus, some time ago, I’ve come up with a simple policy that allows me to keep my traveling on a reasonable level - a requirement for a speaking honorarium. This means that in most cases, i.e. unless your conference is very special, I won’t be interested in coming without a speaking honorarium. The speaking honorarium doesn’t include travel and hotel expenses (see below).

The other reason for requesting a speaking honorarium comes from the fact that majority of the research that we do is sort of an after-hour activity and thus is not directly founded by our customers and conference speaking honorariums are one way of supporting this form of our activity.

Travel

For all travels within Europe standard economy class flight is all I need. For all intercontinental flights business class is a must. My airlines of choice are those belonging to the Star Alliance.

Additionally I would expect that you arrange a pickup from the airport and also a pickup from the hotel on my way back to the airport. On short distances (less then 2h) I can travel by train, but not by bus or coach! Also when arranging a car pickup, please make sure it’s a full-size car (in smaller cars I get sick).

As for the hotel, the standard 4-star business hotel is fine. Please make sure to put me on a non-smoking floor.

Politics

In general I’m not interested in traveling to those countries which are not part of the civilized world and where basic human rights are not respected. This especially includes countries having problems with accepting the concept of Women’s Rights.

History

The list of all the public conferences I spoke at can be found here. This list doesn’t include various internal conferences and on-site trainings.
